Cozy Cove Heater Running Cost: Will It Really Save You Money?
Short answer: it saves money only when you use it instead of heating the whole house. Here's the simple math so you can work out your own cost per hour.

Step 1: find the wattage
We couldn't confirm the Cozy Cove Pro Heater's wattage from an official spec sheet, so check it on the order page or the label on the unit. Most plug-in space heaters sold in the US top out at about 1500 watts.
Step 2: cost per hour on full power
Watts ÷ 1000 = kilowatt-hours (kWh) used per hour. Multiply by your electricity price (it's on your bill, in cents per kWh).
| If the heater is… | Energy per hour | at 13¢/kWh | at 17¢/kWh | at 25¢/kWh |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500W | 0.5 kWh | $0.07 | $0.09 | $0.12 |
| 1000W | 1.0 kWh | $0.13 | $0.17 | $0.25 |
| 1500W | 1.5 kWh | $0.20 | $0.26 | $0.38 |
General math for any electric heater on full power. A lower setting or a thermostat that switches the heater off and on uses less.
Why a small heater can still save money
Every electric resistance heater converts about 100% of its electricity into heat – no small heater makes heat for free. The saving comes from heating less space: keep the room you're in warm and turn the central thermostat down for the rest of the house. If you run it on top of your normal heating, your bill goes up, not down.
5 ways to keep the cost down
- Turn the central thermostat down a few degrees while you use it.
- Close the door of the room you're heating.
- Use a lower setting in a small room or on mild days.
- Turn it off when you leave the room.
- Block draughts under doors and around windows.
